This figure is a section of skin conveniently illustrating a sweat gland (b) connected to the epidermal surface via a sweat duct (a). Sweat glands typically appear as random sections through a coiled tube. The epithelium lining a sweat gland differs from that lining a duct in that the glandular epithelium is in a simple cuboidal arrangement, while sweat ducts are defined as stratified cuboidal epithelium.
