This high magnification electron micrograph of an osteoblast demonstrates a number of interesting findings. A fairly well developed Golgi apparatus is present (a), as is an extensive rough endoplasmic reticulum (b). The cell's nucleus (c) is obvious as well. The area marked (d) is an area of collagen fiber matrix between the osteoblast and the bony trabecula (e).
