Further magnification reveals more details of the cortical tissue. Renal corpuscles (a) appear as dense, rounded structures, the glomeruli, surrounded by narrow spaces, Bowman's spaces. Even at this magnification, it is evident that the tubules comprising the tissue between renal corpuscles differ from one another in shape and diameter. The large annular structure (b) is a cross-section of an arcuate artery.
