RADIOLOGY OBJECTIVES #7
After completion of the work in this session the student will:
  • Be familiar with the principle of obstructive lung disease and its plain chest roentgenographic appearance.
  • Be familiar with air trapping bronchial obstruction and obstructing lesions in the bronchi of children
  • Have an understanding of collapse (atelectasis) of portions of the lung.
  • Have an overall understanding and recognition of pneumothorax.Be aware of the tension pneumothorax.
  • Be aware of intestinal motility and the value of swallowed air as a clue to physiologic and pathologic deviations.Be able to describe and understand intestinal obstruction.
  • Be able to recognize classical cases of obsrtuctive lung lesions and of obstruction.
  • Be able to correctly categorize the pulmonary vascularity on a chest x-ray as normal,increased, or decreased.
  • Understand and be able to recognize intussusception and pneumoperitoneum.
