X-RAY: Normal acute abdominal series: KUB (flat plate). Normally, variable amounts of air are present in teh stomach, smal intestine, and colon. The stomach is identified by air outlining the rugae in the gastric body. The large bowel "frames" the abdomen and is outlined by intraluminal air.
